PUBLIX 101

PUBLIX 101
With today’s economy you want to get the most for your money and Publix is one places to purchase a lot of grocery for pennies and sometime even free. I get most of my best deals at Publix and you can to. It’s just a matter of knowing the store coupon policy and using your coupons at Publix’s at the right time. I try to wait till an item is on sale at Publix to purchase. I then use a coupon for more saving. Publix has a weekly sales ad that runs Wed.-Tues. or Thru. - Wed., depending on the area you’re in. They also have a Yellow and Green Advantage Buy Sales ad
Please remember that these are guide line to Publix policy they are not written in stone. Publix gives their store managers autonomy to decide what coupons they will accept and how many. So please keep this in mind if you shop at more than one Publix. You might want to talk to the manager to see what their individual store coupon policy is before you check out at the register. Also different regions have different policy a well.
1. Publix will let you stack Manufacturer’s coupon & Store or Competitor (#5 has more info. on competitor) coupon for each item you Purchase. Competitor Coupons are considered the same as Store Coupons. (You should have your manufacturer Coupon scan first when stacking. The system might not accept the manufacturer coupon if a store coupon was scanned first)
Do the Math
Folgers Coffee Regular price 8.29 on Sale 5.99 Savings of 2.30
Use 1.00/1 coupon from the Sunday Insert = OOP 4.99, you save 3.39
Not a bad price.

Now Do the Math
Folgers Coffee Regular price 8.29 on sale 5.99
Use a 1.00/1 coupon from the Sunday Insert = OOP 4.99
+ A 2.00/1 store coupon = OOP 2.99
Getting better, you saved 5.30

Some store coupon now state “Not to be used in conjunction with any other coupon or offer. Which means these coupons can’t be stacked with manufacturer’s coupons.
2. Publix will allow 2 manufacturer coupons for B1G1 sale items if you buy 2 items. Yes you read right! You can use a coupon on the Free items. You may also use a store coupon for each item as well. If you are buying a Buy 1 Get 1 Free, you’re able to use up to 4 coupons on the two items, as long as each coupon states $$/1 not $$/2 or more. This result into a much better saving. In some cases you could receive both items FREE or better yet; this could be a “money maker”. Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and most of Georgia stores, B1G1 will ring up at ½ off of each item. In Florida and some of Coastal Georgia the 1st item will ring up at the listed sale price and the 2nd will ring up free. This mean you have to buy 2 for the B1G1 to work in Florida and C. George.
Now Do the Math
Folgers Coffee Regular price 8.29 on sale B1G1F,
Use 2 - 1.00/1 coupon from the Sunday Insert = 6.29 for 2
+ 2 - 2.00/1 store coupon = 4.29 for 2 (=2.15 ea.)

3. Publix will Double manufacturer Coupons that is .50 or less in Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and most of Georgia stores but not in Florida and some of Coastal Georgia. I am one of many that do not get to take advantage of this Policy due to I live in Florida. I still save a lot more at Publix that I do at my other local grocery stores.

4. Publix does not require you to have more or the same amount of product as you do coupons. Most stores do have this requirement. (Will go over later in other store) The register is programmed not to take coupons after a certain amount of coupons has been used or a pacific amount has been deducted. Don’t panic if this happens! It’s just a matter of the manager over riding the registers program.

5. Competitor’s coupons are treated like a store coupons. You can use them with a manufacturer but in most cases you can’t use a competitor’s coupon in conjunction with a store coupon. Now you might be thinking" What stores do Publix consider a competitor?" I have asked this question many times at the customer service desk or one of the store managers before I start to do my shopping if I’m unsure. Publix official policy state they do accept competitor’s coupons. Publix however, leaves it up to the store manages to decide what store they consider a competitor. This can change from store to store. Publix do consider all grocery stores in their metro area compactors. As a general rule, Publix do not consider Superstores such as Wal-Mart and Target and Wholesale store as competitor’s and will not take their coupons. However, there are some stores that do consider Target as a competitor and will except Target coupons. Some Publix stores will even take Drug Stores coupons. So again, it is always a good idea to ask before shopping.

6. Publix do accept Internet coupons and they can be in color or black/white. They do reserve the right to reject any Internet coupon that does not appear to be legitimate or does not scan property. Most will not accept a coupon without an expiration date or that states free.

Tips and Tricks
I try to have all my coupons stack with any free item on top and let the cashier know I have coupons for free items. The cashier will have to input these coupons manually. By telling them upfront they can get the price for the product when they scan it, instead of looking back on the receipt for the item later.
I have had some cashier look at me with dread on their face when I hand over a stack of coupons. Most tell me they don’t mind the coupons. Then they tell me horror stores of a customer getting upset because they were told they couldn’t use a coupon for some reason. So I would like to prepare you all. There will be time you will be told you cannot use a coupon for some reason or another. BUT STAY CALM! Find out the reason and if you feel like you should be able to use the coupon in question you do have option other then getting upset with the cashier. This will accomplish nothing but a bad coupon experience for the cashier, you, the manager and anyone else that hears.
Option
1. Don’t purchase the item.
2. Ask to talk to customer service or a manager to explain why.
3. Take the product to customer service after you purchased it. If there was a mistake made and your coupon should have been used, customer service can take your coupon and issues you a refund on the coupon.

Using coupons is a great way to save money. It will take a little time on your part to collect your coupons but can save hundreds of dollars a year on your grocery and other purchase. WARNING!! Coupons can be very addicting. When you’re at the register and your total is over 100.00 before they start to deduct coupons and then they tell OOP is far less than that. You will want to tell everyone how well you did. And start to tell yourself you did great but you bet you can do better. (At this point you’re hooked)
